im not sure if this is a likely scenario. from what i read they usually offer you the position on the phone immediately and you have to go give your answer right away before they e-mail you the contract. that way, you won't have time to consider other offers. the PDs are scrambling for residents too. but i guess if this happens as long as you didn't give a false impression to the one that you don't like so much that you're committed and if you don't fax back a signed agreement then maybe you could get off the hook. not really sure.

I dont completely agree. From what I heard from my friend who scrambled last year, you dont come to know anything after the interview if you are frankly rejected. Most pds let you know their stand only after two days. You will definitely have to make your choice.
