To Pealrjam59 and Guest007.... at first, I agreed with your answer of 1.5. Then I saw how many people thought it was 2.25. Therefore, I carefully did my math with a calculus professor and a stats professor. Our math is CLEARLY wrong. Our "shortcut" only works if both populations are equal. They are not. The population of mothers is 1500 while population of non-mom's is 1000. In order for our "shortcut" to work, we simply have to make the populations match. So let's make the non-mom's 1500.. and that means the # of non-moms with cancer has to be bumped up by 50% to 270. Get it so far?

Now our shortcut will work. The Relative Risk (cancer in non-moms to moms) is 270/120 instead of our original 180/120 calculation. This will give us an answer of 2.25. I can go much further into the actual equation that the BRS actually uses. If you want to challenge this, I want you to first look into BRS and note the algebra they use, and how the 2 denominators are both 1000.

Answer is 2.25 fo shizzle...........

Relative Risk = Incidence of positive outcome in Exposed/ Incidence of positive outcome in UNExposed .. it is RATIO of INCIDENCE written in Kaplan, FA and High Yield Bio Stat Reasoning Method : Define outcome above case : Breast Cancer Defince Exposure to risk factor above case: Children Numiroator gives incidence of Exposed so .. Breast Cancer with Children/ all women with Children Denominator give incidence of UNExposed so .. Breast Cancer without Children: 180/ all women without Children IF I AM WROND PLZ POINT OUT ..

i think u got to set the chart in the right format first.
Yes No (disease)
YES 120 1360
kids NO 180 620

now, since its asking the development of breast ca in childless women compared to women with children take 180/(180+620) / 120/(120+1360). childless women is on top.

(a/(a+b)/(c/(c+d)= (180/1000)/(120/1500)
= 2.25
