CAN I TAKE MY STEP 2 CS IN AUGUST 2006 FOR 2007 MATCH???will i be ale to make it.....IF NOT WHAT IS THE LIKELY LAST DATE TO TAKE STEP 2 CS TO MAKE IT FOR THE MATCH 2007

Deadline for taking Step 2 CS if you want to participate in MATCH 2007 is December 31, 2006.

i 2 thot theres time till dec 31 but lotsa ppl advise 2 complete all exams and apply by sept preferably.evryone seems 2 believe the earlier the better.
i hope some1 clears this for us, cos i am all set to leave on F1 visa if i can not make it 4 the 2007 match.

p53 is right about the deadline.
Clueless...it definitely is advisable to get done with the exams by september/october(when the whole application process starts) because it makes your application stronger.If you are ECFMG certified by that time...then thats even better.That said,people apply with just their step 1 scores too..... ofcourse that does have an impact on your chances of getting those interviews.

as far as i heard that ,we should have our results with ecfmg certificate by september 1 st to get the maximum number of interview calls , but i m sure that i cant make it on september 1 st ,i m planning to give my step 2 cs by july/august ,and i will be getting my result before november 8 th , my question is how long will it take to get the ecfmg certificate after getting the step 2 cs result .........................

at least 45 days for the ecfmg certificate.

The ECFMG website says it takes 2 weeks...I think thats probably for people in the US...just talked to a friend and hers took two weeks.I think the 45 days would be for people outside the US and the extra time must be the mail in time...right rashmi?

to be on time for match 2007 - u can take ur CS anytime before Dec. 31st as per ECFMG and book ur test before July ..
but i would advise u to take the test before Nov, 06 to give u enough time to retake it and still be on time for the match ...

hi I am new to this forum...quite an excellent storehouse of resources i must say...congratulations to all the providers...had a query...I am thru with my step 1 and step2 ck with 252/99 and 255/99.gave my step 2 cs on 8th of june.AS per the new regulations ,I beleive I can get my score report only after 3 months...when is the earliest i can sit for step 3 then? do you think I can give my step 3 and manage to apply for 2007 match ...really keen to know...please help..
also anyone needing any help in prep for the other 3 steps...always ready to help

yeah...u can apply for the match even on Step 1 scores alone...
since u already have step 1 and 2 in hand with excellent scores, interviews wont be a problem...
step 3 date can be taken after ECFMG certificate arrives in ur hand (as i explained about the certificate on http://tips4match.blogspot.com)
certificate arrives 2 weeks after step 2 cs ...
u are very much on time,

digital doc, thanks for ur all ur advice.
My Q, u mentioned November also as an appropriate time to attempt CS, but wont this ruin chances for the Match, for an IMG(with no perks..visa,USCE,Lors) if s/he isnt certified before september?

i think the certificate is sent by fedex so it arrives faster. it also means that those who are abroad get it faster as courier service is more reliable.

you DONT need to be certified before september - but to have your step 3 scores in hand by January atleast (in case you need H1), try to have certification in hand by Dec to enable you to take a Step 3 date early

hi digi doc can i study for c.s during te time i prepare for ck?say a few hrs in the evening and then in the end just before exam concentrate fully for 15 days and give it?if c.s is taken beyond 14th july i guess results will come only on oct,which will be late for ecfmg certification.

Hi brown - sure you can ...in fact 15 days of full concentration and practice with a partner is good enough..
Certification will arrive 2 weeks after the CS result...(if step 1 and step 2 are taken by then AND ur medical credentials are verified with med. school) ..and the certification status is sent to the programs that u applied even before you get it...so wont be that late..
