Friends goodmorning...
just as always weekends are horrible, just got time for family, friends and house visit even if i want to avoid it. and as i told before, these two days are for hubbies exam prep, so rest of the time i help him with his Q papers(he is having his part 1 in June which is basic sciences and im almost good in physics.
hw r u all guys? hope u could study during these 2 days.today i finished cell biology from Kaplan in the morning. nw starting embryology.
Hodgkins, i always remember u buddy, truly i dont have any nice friends in this country except my forum friends with whom im sharing almost everything nw.

Hi goodmorning everybody. Y day i didnt do much bs my husband was at home preparing for his exam so i had no choice but to help him, i managed to finish embryology only from Kaplan.
pls somebody tell me is this embro portion from Kaplan enough or should i suppliment it from any other books, i dont have High Yield. pls help me......

finished chapter 3 from mol bio and then did few Qs and then did chap 8 from histo. im slow once again but just happy that im moving on not stuck.i know that studying is the only thing that doesnt make u guilty conscious, so even if 1 chapter done a day makes that whole day worth while.but when i open this site i feel depressed and inferior to everybody bs when all others are doing a lot with the time available to them i sit here with snail pace and oh god days are flying by.....
somebody pls tell me embryo from kaplan is good enough or not?

i didnt update my diary for so many days!!!! Days are flying so fast. Iwasnt regularly studying last few days bs of nothing but depression. sometimes this happens esp when i feel i dont remember enough considering the time i allot for each topic,reading and memorising and memorising. well nw that bout also gone im again fresh. Just finished histology during last few days. hope all my friends had nice time studying.

hello friend
I am new to this forum...but can feel ur situation.as I too went with the same feelings. Was so stressed out. Couldnt sleep many nights 'cos of that. B compassionate for urslf. U dont deserve this stress.. Please take it in positive way. This day will pass too. Take some rest. just a week ago I was feeling the same way. I was sacrificing everything for studies but still my brain was not accepting anything I read. Finally decided to give My brain some rest, for 4 days I didnt study I didnt even let myslf think about USMLE. Believe me Now I feel much better.
Its nice that u recognized it is depression . I lost so many days b4 I ould figure out the problem with me..

Thanks GOOD GOD & HODGKINS I read ur PM buddy but was not at all in a mood to talk with friends bs i told u i was really feeling so down.Sorry about it and thx a lot for the reply.I am from India too(Kerala). Hope things will be better nw. today morning did 30 Qs and nw going thru the explanations. to get me back in the study mood im doing BS which i did early in my prep ie in Feb. it is like im reading it for the first time again esp the epidemiology and stats but i promised myself that i wont be desp again just bs i cant remember..... we dont have time to be depressed but to read and read and read only.
well goodgod I had been reading ur journal and u r doing great just hang on with the good work.
pls anybody tell me about Kaplan Embryology is it goood enough or we just have to go to some other source? i dont have high yield

Hi drbin,
For me embryo in Kaplan was not enough comprehensive. Maybe that's because I've studied this subject so long time ago (I passed my embryo exam in 1988, hard to believe... ).
I did not like HY embryo, too. I like colour pictures and animations (I have visual memory). So I decided to supplement Notes in order to understand things properly. Of many internet resources I decided to choose this one page:

and for me this combination was enough.
I also answered questions from http://cna.uc.edu/embryology/contents.htm
I do not recommend my approach as 'must be' because it is time-consuming, but it was very helpful for me. And the nature of resource (internet site, not written textbook) also helped me a bit as I felt a bit fed up with printed texts.

well im fresh and back for more, so i restart from where i got stuck with Mol biology chap 4. finished it today. tomoro chap 5 and 6.

NWADAYS IT SEEMS LIKE VERY LESS POSTS IN PREP JOURNALS. LIL SLOWING...... HOPE EVERYBODY IS FINE AND VERY MUCH INDULGED IN READING. can i ask you for lectures on mol biology????  i cannot make heads out of it and i am just postponing it to the end. we did not have anything of such when i was in med school. pity me!!

yes posts are less cos most of us are gunning for the next 4 -6 weeks so we spedn less time on the intenet. i still visit daily and i find it relaxing just to chat with 'unseen' friends. it makes me feel less lonely and alone in my 'plight'

yea Tolito that must be the reason, all the best ye all my friends.....honestly speaking i was just running through lines, Tolito, even immunology seemed easier when compared to this one subject,hope i will make some sense out of it during my second reading....
oh God really hw precious is each day...before i started studying for MLE days were just passing by slowly or fast i didnt even mind each day had a same routine wake up,cook,family,housework....sleep. but nw im really frantic hw fast each second is ticking by and another day comes so fast... Oh God help us, your humble servants.Sometimes i really feel like this thing is neverending....exactly 3 months and im not even able to finish my first reading...Jeez..whats the problem with me...am i being another crying baby!!! im really in need of some boosting up...hw i wish if i had a study partner with me just like in my college days spending all our time together studying and studying only.. no other things to be cared for.
today i was just sitting infront of my books and couldnt control my tears.. my baby got confused and she started patting me calling amma(mother) she must have thought something is happening to her mother...she is only 2yrs.
Hope tomoro will be a better day...If I could do my MBBS i must definitely be able to do this, after all life is not just USMLE,right???

drbin, dont give up and dont be frustrated. just be encouraged by every little success that you have. dont look at the volume of work left but look at how much better you are since you started studying some months back. remember, you need to get correct only 60-70% correct and get a pass mark, 75 (2 score mark). throw in another 15q more than the average and your mark is now 80. throw in a further 15-20 and you are in the 90 range. so do not panic. and do not despair., we will be rewarded for our good work. i felt touched reading your baby was patting you on the back. isn't that cute?
when do you plan to go for the exam? am likely to postpone mine from june 19th cos am only about 60% done. i am doing 3 readings per sitting per subject. so i am also going slowly. i still plan a 4th reading of all and then selective 5th reading. so do not worry, we will make it.

Hi everybody thanks Tolito and Vallia Your words are always so inspiring Ya I am trying to gain my rhythm back. 29th is my baby's birthday So we are having a birthday party tonight. Oh I have a lot of work to do, cleaning, arranging everything,shopping,wrapping gifts for all the kids etc etc...Hope this weekend will be relaxing for me, some nice social time. right nw im going out to buy Cake for her. hope i can do some Qs at night after everything is settled.

Did few Qs from Molecular Biology Got 58% Oh god i feel devastated! Hw can I improve myself I found out one thing which is grievously wrong about myself,I can answer a well known fact correctly but if the same thing is asked in a little weird way esp something out of Kaplan,I surely gets it wrong. so i think i have to do lots and lots of Qs to expect some improvement and to learn to read like USMLE think like USMLE and answer like USMLE. Anyway i got to finish reading pharmac and physio then some more patho after that i will be doing loads of Qs from whatever sources available.

also did 50 Qs from Anatomy today,60%. so altogether a desperate day,my god hw many times do i have to revise to make myself clear of things, i have a very poor correlation capacity i think and very poor memory. Help me Oh God
