Hi,
I haven't taken my step 3 yet.I took a pre match at a hospital and dont require a visa.I wanted to know if its better to take step 3 now(before joining the residency) or after joining the residency.Willl we get time while doing residency to study for step 3?
please advice,

hi, if you have taken prematch in IM or FP then i think it is better for you to give exam in 2nd year because step 3 consists mainly of management of patients with 80% course being internal medicine.
However if you have taken admission in a field like surgery, obgyn, etc then i would advise you to finish off the exam so that you dont have to give it at a time when your internal medicine becomes more weak.......like in the 2nd year of residency.
