hi guys,
i recieved a letter from ECFMG on 28th jan 06 saying that they recieved the verification of my medical diploma from my med school in pakistan but my med school did not sent ECFMG my medical school transcript so ECFMG has sent another request to my med school.
I immediately called ECFMG and there was a nice lady who explained that ECFMG would be needing those documents directly from med school and ecfmg will request them again n again...i asked if anything i can do?...and she told me i can contact my med school. I didnot do that at that time because i was preparing for step 1. Now that i have taken my exam i signed on oasis and checked my status and it still says.." medical credentials recieved verification pending".
So i called ecfmg today and unfortunately there was this very rude guy who's unwilling to help. i asked him what can be done now and he was like your med school did not send us the document nothing we can do...theres nothing you can do...then he said i cant hear u (when i could hear him clearly) call again when u fix up ur phone line...i was thinking yeah i'll call but wouldn't wanna talk to u for sure.. i hope there are many different customer service people so that i dont have to talk to him again...
Now guys i turn to u because i know u will help
i will be visiting my home country next month plz tell me exactly what i need to do..i know i have to ask my college to send my med school transcript is there anything else that they need to send it with...like diploma or anything....i want to put this to rest while i am there...so just want to be very sure everything goes right this time...

am i the only one going thru this...there gotta b more people out there who had problems with credential verification...plz guys help me out....tell me what exactly i need to do...i will appreciate ur help and time...thankyou

hey sarika.I sent my documents to ECFMG and they sent them for verification themself to pakistan.My friend also had applied at the same time..she actually had to ask someone to go to the college and ask the clerk to send the papers to the principal for signatures.But I had them done without any problem.But they wont send me orange permit without verification.I dont know how u were able to get that.No need to panic.Just call the college office tomorrow and ask them if your documents have been verified or not.otherwise ask someone in the family yo go themselves and meet wih the clerks and make sure they send the documents to be signed.Honestly you know the system.The clerks wont do anything without MITHAEE..what they call it.

sarika i had the same problem , i called everyday to my medicine school , i waited hours to the principal , and the secretary told me if yu want a fast service you have to pay the fast currier service so i did that , i understand yu because i called to ECFMG and a rude woman answer me and she didnt want to help me

Sarika...you send in a copy of the diploma(degree) yourself.The ECFMG then sends form 344 and 345 that you signed and mailed to your college and ask for verification of the diploma and also for copies of your transcripts.Now the college student affairs ppl can be a pain...if you're going back home I suggest you go to them and get it done yourself...or if you have family/friends who can do it for you...this should be ok too..Although I remember having read in the info booklet that in case your college doesnot comply to the ECFMG requests it is the applicant's responsibility to make sure that they do!
Malinda...its weird that they didn't send you the permit without verification.The verification is needed for the ECFMG certificate.I got my permits for step 1 and CK without any hassle.

can any guy tell me when ECFMG begin verification of credentials
and when ECFMG send my credentials to medical schhol for verification
after first application or after taking all 3 steos or after last registeration?
i want to apply for step 1 and i did not apply for other steps
whether ECFMG begin verification of my credntials like final medical diploma
and final medical schhol transcript after ECFMG receives my application for step 1?
or ECFMG send verification request to my medical school only and only after i take all step 1 and step2ck and step 2cs?
PLEASE ANSWER ME

hi, everybody, I had the same problem. I called my medical school. they said they did not receive a letter from ECFMG. but ECFMG said they sent july 15th. I have to ask them send again. Could I ask ECFMG use my Fedex accounting to send this letter? to make sure my medical school to receive it!! anyone had the same situation?

If you are in a hurry to get certified then you better open a DHL account at www.dhl.com and give your account- number to the ecfmg and ask them to use that account to send your credentials to your medical school for verification purpose, it saves a good 15 to 20 days as compared to normal post and also you can track your documents...............and it costs about 40$ to send the documents, the account can be opened for free. Same account can then also be used by your medical school to send the documents such as form 327 back to ECFMG
