G inhibitory protein
mjl1717 dont you think you are always very rude? you have been this rude to me also some weeks ago...why are you so rude with everyone?

  #5

doc179 no offense, but there are some people on the forum not as advanced as others and have no idea what Gi means. Also I think most would agree that its NOT impolite to ask for detailed clearer info. Especialy since the exam is fairly detailed. What i ask is a fairly balanced q. A big part of medicine is communicating clearly and concisely, easier said then done. Once again its not rude to ask for detailed info. rolling eyes

hahaha I think every body who just have passed their medical school pharma exam must know these Gi, Gs , G q,

As for as my answer is concerned I remember these as all the 2 goes with Gi, like Alpha 2, M 2, D 2.

All the 1 goes with Gq, Alpha 1, M 1,

Beta has separate rule they all are G s linked

Actually read it in pharma mnemonics

communication is a funny thing although I communicated clearly and politely i still wind up answering my own q.. {By the way most feel they communicate well but from what I see it takes experience and not everyone does it well.} Whether its for cultural reasons, not being conscientious, shyness, lack of knowing how to be appropiate, women maintaining there feminity, etc.. As said in behavioral science the oral word is better understood then the written word. **For those who this is new-G inhibitory has to do with adenyl cyclase being inhibited therefore decreasing cAMP and decreasing Protein kinase Asmiling face

hey everyone, cool down the temper and temposhaking head.

i must confess that i am a 'few' years since graduation and we were not taught all these proteins!!!! i just worked out myself not too long ago (precisely 2 days ago) that Gi might jolly well mean 'inhibitory' while Gs 'stimulatory' cos with Gi the cAMP level is low and with Gs it is high.

i think mjl1717's question is valid. dr179 please do not be offendedsmiling facesmiling facesmiling face

I was not objecting him/her asking for a detailed ans ...also he did not ask ME that..I dont know ,I just felt that was kinda rude way of telling someone to talk clearly...thats it...I might me wrong ..I am not offended...well thanx anyways for the warm message tolito...really appreciate it smiling face

yes the Gs and Gi protein thing IS relatively new. Ive only heard about it in the past few years. [i dont get this - telling someone hey are advanced is equated with being rude? doc 179 do you see anything obscene or vulgar or inappropiate with that??????] {officially i think thats called a "delusion" - a false believe} if anything i may have boosted him or her up by calling him or her advanced- as stated before this communiation thing is easier said then done and takes experience and to me the greatest part of medicine is communicationg properly and clearly. i rest my case.
