I was just wodering if the Pd can find out that one of the candidates they are ranking on their ROL has already accepted a prematch? I know a person has to withdrawn from the match after accepting prematch offers but does the PD knows this????

There are several reasons that a candidate withdrew from the match.

Didn't get test results in enough time, Signed a prematch and more. Signing a prematch is usually what we believe a person did when they withdraw from the match. My PD just sighs and says "I hope they didn't sell themselves short and go to New York"

Do we know for certain that is what someone did - sign prematch. No, we don't know.

Thanks BBB, but I have another question - when a PD is preparing his ROL does he not rank those who withdrew from the match i.e. he ranks only those that are still registered with the NRMP?

Ria, to answer the question......they do not know who is in NRMP and who isn't until they submit the ROL.Once the ROL has been submitted then they know how many have pulled out. I don't think its possible for most programs to make ammendments since many programs submit the ROL just a few days before deadline.

To Veer Zaara, Hi, I have a clarification. If programs submit their ROL, cant they change it, after that, provided the last date for submitting the ROL is not yet over? The candidtes had that priviledge of changing their ROL, till FEB 22nd!

Nope, my PD knows that I do, and I'll ask his advice, but he doesn't come here!

My absolute last day for submitting my list was the one posted. I didn't know that candidates received a longer time, until one told me this year that she was in the match, out of the match, in the match. She wanted me to tell her that she was in the top ___ of the match (i.e. in the top 10 and we had 10 positions). I can't ever tell a candidate that - disapproval
