I am a new on this forum and I found already a lot of useful information for future applicant. Thank you, especially bbb, for detailed answers.
I would like to ask several questions too.
The area of my interest is diagnostic radiology.
1. I already done my internship in my country and now I have a possibility to start a residency in radiology.
My questions are: Would the fact that I will have an experience as a half-way resident in radiology in my country help me in my future (2005 Match) application? Can it be possibly harmfull? In this situation is there a possibility to skip a preliminary year, requested before PGY1 in radiology? Can I apply in such case to PGY2 in radiology?
2. If I had never been in USA hospital, which kind of recommendations would impress a program committee? I have done scientific research with USA collaborators, physicians. Are their recommendations relevant?
