hi everyone..i got a 99/260 in my step 1...and now i am preparing for my step 2 . i am an img but an american citizen by birth...i am intrested in radiology..and i wanted to know what my chances are..i am flying to the usa next week..and i heard a lot about this internship,observership,externship,research... i really dont have any idea about these terms but someone told me that by doing any one of them would increase my chances of matching in radiology immensely... could someone please please tell me how to get into one of these???? thanx a lot......!!!!!

Hi! I do know of a couple of IMGs who prematched this year in Radiology simply on board scores, interviews, etc. Neither of these people did any research, observerships, extrenships, etc. Unfortuately, after this yr's match, there will no longer be a 'prematch.' If you are doing clinicals still, definitely do some Radiology electives. And try to do them in hospitals which have a Radio program you are interested in. This way, you get a feel for the program, as well as letting those already in the program (prg director, chief resident, etc.) get a feel for you as a student and as a potential candidate. I think first, and foremost, are board scores and you have certainly fulfilled that with your Step1!! Hope this is of some help! Best of luck on your Step 2!
