my first impression was as drkill "odds of matching at ure 1st choice in rol" but the chance are much lower because having just one interview means that your file was not so attractive for PDs. I say that to applicants x&y applying to same programs, x receive 10 invitation and y only 1, both rank no.1 program "A". In my opinion candidate x have greater chance to mach at "A" because have better file. GL nashua, i hope that you will contradict my theory

good point vai....i hadnt thought that....but i know some ppl with only 1 -2 interviews but from v good univ programs while they got rejection frm barnabas! so i think its random sometimes ...besides no pd knows how many interviews u have so each one is ranking you as per their program .but yes in a bigger picture ure point is very valid.but there is certainly hope good luck nashua

to drkill- i talked with somebody from st. barnabas and he said me that their PD ( Dr. Hellerman- extraordinary PD) send rejection to many applicants who had good file(99,99), when he ask why the PD answer: because this guy will never come here.

well there are many factors, one could be that the persons' application went in late and so less interviews. Depends also on the type of program and visa type they offer. It may be harder to match in popular programs(particularly university based ones) and those which offer both J1 and H1 visa Vs. a program which just offers 1 visa type. Also depends on location.......big cities more popular than rural/small town location(includes weather as well). So if the single program falls on the less favourable aspects then chances of matching is higher as compared to all favorable one. Due to personal reasons I too only ranked selected programs and left out others.

I think there is always hope, even if it is only one program that you are ranking. Everyone always throws around numbers and statistics because I think we need that in this time of WAITING just to reassure ourselves about the match. Whose to say that the one program Nashua's friend is ranking isn't THE ONE which will match him/her? It may or may not be. Either way, best of luck to them and to you all. By the way, what's the deal with all the IM pre-matches. Does anyone know of any surgery pre-matches.

rashmi i've ranked only one prog as it's in the same city where i live...i want to stay here for family reasons. i have good hopes as the program is small, not that competitive....and they gave me strong positive feedback.rest is all in god's hands. i'm surely taking a risk...but i don't want to make myself miserable by moving away from my husband...especially with my 18 month son. let's pray for the best...13th is just round the corner. Best of luck to each and every one of us!

Hi guys, Im stuck in a situation similar to that! Hope to match but im cautiously optimistic. Cant rule anything out! Do you guys suggest using these websites that advertise on helping out with the post match scramble? Any replies will be highly appreciated.

pros of scramble service: lots of hands to help you out with faxing and e-mailing, less stressful cons: very expensive, some programs have spamguards against such services, not really sure if they send out the right documents since programs differ in their requirements
