Hello Friends, I recently decided to give my step 3. I will be doing my residency in Michigan. I found that Michigan Medical Board allows you to apply for step3 only after 6 months of residency. I also found that some states like Maryland and virginia allows you write the exam before residency. My questions are- 1. Can I write step 3 of one state and do residency in another state? 2.Are there many centers for giving the exam or is it like a few as with step 2 CS? 3.Is the schedule tight? Is it difficult to get a date in the next few months? Or do you have ample choice? 4.If I have Kaplan step3 and Kaplan CCS(about 100 cases) material, do I still need to buy UW?

1)yes, you can 2)you can check it out in www.fsmb.org. i remember they are like 11 or something like that, i mean, which donīt ask you for any year(s) of residency to be able to do it. 3)i think they have many available dates, of course, iīm not sure, but thatīs my impression, i could schedule it in my 1st choice. But schedule it with time, you donīt want surprises! 4) i think UW is key in this step. You need to study from 3 weeks to 8 weeks, if you did step 2CK in the last months and you did it well, you can study only 1 month approx and get a good score.
