how do differentiate mesenteric thrombosis and ischemic colitis by clinical features and lab

anybody pls?

  #2

Isn't mesenteric thrombosis itself a cause of ischemic colitis??

  #3

are you asking differences between MESENTRIC VENOUS thrombosis and atheroscerolitc or the ischemic bowel??

  #4

yu are right cyra...mesentric thrombosis is a cause for ischaemic colitis...

the patient has excruciating pain and milder abdominal signs relative to what one would expect with such a high degree of pain....the patient will have a h/o risk factors for DVT / cardiac stroke / cerebral stroke and might have h/o of recent surgery too.

when ischaemic colitis develops the patient goes into acidosis ... acidosis in a patient with mesentric thrombosis suggests that the colon has become ischaemic.

hope we managed to answer your question.
