hello everyone.i have taken step 1 and going to appear in step 2ck in april.and in step 2 cs in sep.ecfmg sent my credential for verification to my medical school ist time during april 2005.but my documents get lost in mail.i requested ecfmg 2 months back to resend my credentials again to my school.but until now my school hasnt received my credentials from ecfmg.i think there is some mail problem or may be anything else.plz tell me 1.can i apply in match 2007 if verification is in pending state? 2.can i ask ecfmg to send my credentials by any good mail service like Fedex or DHL ,even ill pay ecfmg the cost of that mail.do u think they will consider my request?and 3.what is deadline for verification to get 2007 match for a Pakistani graduate? im worried i may lose my one year onli coz of this matter.plz help me

u should be ecfmg certified before applying for the residency, and ur credentials need to be verified b4 u can get ecfmg certificate.

Is is NOT needed to be ECFMG certified while applying for a residency - many people have applied on Step 1 Scores alone ..
But Yes - your certification should arrive by the time Program Directors submit Rank Order Lists for the Match - which is typically around 1st or 2nd week of February of the match year ( 2007 is u r planning 2007 match)...
but given the increasing competition, try to have both step 1 and step 2 CK scores in hand by the time you apply atleast...
and yes - u can apply even if ur credentials are not verified - but they need to be done in order to get an ECFMG Certificate...

thank u very much digitaldoc.i got a big relief .plz tell me would there be any concern by ecfmg if i ask them to send my credentials for verification again to my medical school by fedex or DHL .coz there is some problem with the normal mail process.what do u suggest?plz sugget

Hey amer ali,
U still can wait fr ur documents to reach ur school.It takes about 2 months fr the whole process.
U dont need an ECFMG certifiate when u applyin fr residency but having a certificate is a bit important in gettin the interviews.People who are ECFMG certified get more intvs than the people with out.
Fr ecfmg certi if u dont get any progress.U can request them to use a fedex account and send them to ur school.Basically u would be setting up a fed ex account using ur debit/credit card and u can fax an authorization letter to them requestin them to use ur fed ex account and resend the documents to them.U can talk to them befre inititain the process.
