The Achetylcholine Rectptor at the NMJ is a Nicotinic Muscular receptor (NM), which is also a Sodium Channel. Ach binds to it and causes Na influx, causing an EPP...
My question is: Does Nicotine affect this receptor since it is nicotinic?? Basically, I'm leading towards asking- in smoking, can Nicotine affect the skeletal muscle, and how???

To be sincere, I don't really know why it is called nicotinic receptor (is it just that name or has to do sth with nicotine)

nicotine activates the nicotinic receptor directly

Nicotine may have effects in the ganglia where nicotinic receptors are present- in fact ti can promote gut motility... Eureka ...found the reason why people smoke in the rest rooms!!!

Here is the answer I found:
Nicotine is a depolarizing ganglionic blocking agent that initially stimulates and then blocks nicotinin muscular (NM) (skeletal muscle) and nicotinin neural (NN) (parasympathetic ganglia) cholinergic receptors. Blockade of the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) results in arteriolar vasodilation, bradycardia, and hypotension. Blockade at the neuromuscular junction leads to muscle weakness and respiratory depression caused by interference with the function of the diaphragm and intercostals muscles.
