I was exploring knee joint and couldn't answer the question
Which ligament prevents hiperextention of the knee ?
Please explain

  #2

hyperextension of the knee develops much higher forces in ACL than in the PCL
The ACL is one of four knee ligaments that join the femur to the tibia .Specifically, the ACL attaches to the anterior portion of the top of the tibia and runs diagonally up, attaching to the rear of the bottom of the femur. Its main function is to hold the knee stable during leg movements and to prevent hyperextension of the knee joint.

Hyperextension is limited by the two collateral ligamentsand the shape of the femorar condyles(tibial and fibular collaterals )

ACL checks extension, lat. rotation, and anterior displacemnt of the tibia
PCL checks extension, lat rotation and posterior displacemnt of the tibia
