36. A 52-year-old man has intermittent episodes of supraventricular tachycardia. During these episodes, he has a pulse of 190 to 220/min and a systolic blood pressure of 60 to 80 mm Hg. Which of the following is the most likely cause of the hypotension?
A) Depressed myocardial contractility
B) Erroneous blood pressure readings
C) Inadequate sympathetic tone
D) Inadequate ventricular filling
E) Intravascular volume depletion

can you explain please

  #6

ventricular filling shortened due to tachycardia and therefore decreased ventricular filling volume, I think so

Answer is D

Ventricular filling mainly takes place in Diastole. Due to the tachycardia, the ventricular filling is impaired as tachycardia causes decreased diastolic interval. The impaired ventricular filling will cause a decreased cardiac output which results in the hypotension.
