yes, the sperm's mitochondrias are located in it's flagel, radiary to the axial filament. When the fertilization occurs, only the nucleus of the sperm enters the ovulus. Everything else remains outside with the membrane. that's why the mothers pass the disease to children of either sex, but only the girls pass it further

Mitochondrial disease always maternal in origion.
