HI, I HAVE POSTED THIS SAME QUERY AT LOT MANY FORUMS BUT HAVINT RECIEVED ANY REPLY AS YET. I TOOK MY USMLE STEP 1 IN JAN,06. WAS MY 4TH ATTEMPT.I DID MY EXAM REAL GOOD, WAS SURE I HAD DONE MORE THAN 250/350 QS RIGHT.AND IM SURE OF THAT. AFTER THE EXAM THE CONFIRMATION LETTER THAT IS GIVEN TO YOU THAT YOU GAVE THE EXAM ON THAT DATE, HAD THE NAME OF SOME OTHER EXAMINEE, NOT MY NAME. I DID NOT CHECK IT THEN AND SAW IT MANY DAYS LATER. I GOT MY SCORE LAST WEEK AND I CANT BELIEVE IT THAT I GOT A 67. I CAN SWEAR THAT IT CANNOT BE MY SCORE.THE CARD SHOWS THAT I GOT JUST ONE STAR IN PHARM. AND I KNW MY PHARM REAL GOOD. IT JUST CANT BE MY SCORE. I AM APPLYING FOR A RE- CHECK . IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY I CAN HAVE MY EXAM RE EVALUATED.IS IT POSSIBLE THAT BECAUSE ITS MY 4TH ATTEMPT ,THE ECFMG SHOWED LOW SCORES. I REALLY DONT KNOW. I COULDINT HAVE BEEN BETTER PREPARED FOR THIS. IM NOT SURE I CAN GIVE AN EXAM ANY BETTER THAN I DID. I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS WHAT IS IN STORE FOR ME, IF I SHOULD EVEN CONSIDER GIVING THE EXAM AGAIN? ANYONE OUT THERE WHO COULD HELP OR SUGGEST ANYTHING AT ALL, PLEASE COME FORWARD AND HELP. AND PLEASE PRAY FOR ME GOD BLESS

Well, Admire, that sure does sound strange ! Maybe for some reason your ECFMG-number got mixed up by the system, and thatīs why you got the confirmation letter of some other person. Have you contacted ECFMG yet ? I would definitely do that. Call them up and tell them that you think something might have been mixed up. Maybe you can fax them the confirmation letter, and they can at least check to see if something went wrong in the system. While reading up on the CS the other day, I came across a problem that had to do with their software, and happened last year: http://www.usmle.org/FAQs/faqStep2CSreports.htm Sure, itīs not the same thing, but it goes to show that software problems DO happen, causing people to fail that would normally have passed. So if you havenīt done so already, let them know about the mixed up confirmation, and the fact that you were really well prepared. (And in case you took an NBME form and did well on that, I would mention this as well - it never hurts to have them see that you WERE well prepared for this). Good Luck, and keep us posted !

Do the NBME to see if ur score correlates, thats if u still remember stuff. If its not in the 60's then i would fight to see what the issue is.

hi mavis. thanks for your advice, but im not too sure. i mean, im an fmg, and though i am sure that i can score pretty good in an nbme even if i take it in say a week, even then im not sure if its worth the time and money to fight it out. im still an outsider and i feel theres no point fighting things out. i might as well resume my preparation and at the same time await my recheck results. thanks anyways. god bless and all the best with all that you endeavour.
