Ok..I would correct myself...I would give my right index finger rather than right arm to be in Henry Ford ...all the programs on ur list r very impressive n not many IMG's get calls from the programs u have gotten ..so very few people know abt them...I would advice u to not go by any program's reputation[ all of them in ur list r equally good]...rank them according to how u felt during ur interview there...where would u like to spend ur next 3 years?..and believe me I interviewed at UConn n its not my top choice..

Thanks guys, the thing is I interviewed at 24 programs, and will rank only 15 because I am sick of paying extra money for all of it, and I hope I match in the 15, just the order of the ranking is very hard for me. Of the top list, I am thinking of not ranking UMDNJ and UMass, possibly Wash U (malignant program in my experience) I dont know yet. I liked this list, althought I dont know where to put Henry Ford, but people tell me Utah is not as strong as Indiana or Iowa or Yale, whereas I see the place as somewhere enjoyable to live and ski! But Im also worried about fellowship placement, and theres only one day left....everyone has given me different ideas for the list....I still dont know. ANy help or opinion is really appreciated.

The first thing that you need to ask yourself is "Where will I be happy for three years, obtain the experience necessary for the fellowship that I want and have some sort of life during residency?" Good luck to all

Very nice list!! Why you rank Yale so low? If I were you, I would definitely rank Yale before Utah because of so much better fellowship placement. Good luck!!

because Yale is really a preppy kinda school, and the fellowship placement was not as I thought in cardiology. If you lok at USNEWS, yale is the same as henry ford in ranking, therefore they are a strong law school, but not so strong medical school, andI think the name is what has put them there. Plus very PREPPY feel to the place, and lots of oh were so great at yale...

Yale IM is pretty good as I know. I don't know if hospital ranking in USNews necessarily has much to do with the quality of residency. It's more about a hospital's strategy in advertising. Anyway you've been to all of these programs and I am sure being a strong candidate you will have a good shot for your first choice. Good luck!

Thanks, the family issue is big, and my family is in Texas, but theres 2 things to consider, sometimes farther is better, and to see them on the holidays...I would have liked to go to Baylor, but for whatever reason I recieved the worst type of rejection from them, and I will not be applying for fellowship for them either. I think its important where you feel comfortable at, Yale says that its very rare for them to accept FMG (althought there were some there, from England and Ireland), and when I called the PD to show my intrest I was sort of...insulted would be the word. I felt I was not welcome, and would be used as a spare, and therefore I am ranking them more of a spare as well. There really is no ranking that is scietific in IM or residency, but I would say that Henry Ford was the strongest teaching program that I saw. Every program had onething that stuck out. Like in Cleveland Clinic, its there Cardio fellowship placement, although not best programs, but 80% match....Utah had very few FMGs, giving me the chance to go there and standout pretty easy. Also the workload was small, therefore I would have time to do researchj that I like ( plus maybe ski!). Its really hard to decide, I geuss one has to do what you think is in your best intrest. Thank you for all the info and help.
