Guys Ive been having a very tough time solving questions differencing these two... I think there is so much overlap between these that is driving me nuts... An easy way to distinguish these 2.... Im clueless! Thx

displacement -unaccceptable emotion transferred to an acceptable idea: " bose yells a employee so employeee yells at wife" sublimation is MATURE DEFENSE MECH.- unacceptable instinctual drive is rerouted to a socially acceptale action. "guys steals candy from store but grows up to become major league baseball player who steals bases" I find projection and reaction fomation ambiguous

Projection is "projecting" (sorry I know its redundant) your inner subconscious stressfull/unacceptable feelings to someone else.. You think that person thinks that way, but actually you are just seeing yourself through another being; Ex a woman who has strong sexual drives sees all women as whores... Reaction formation you have unconscious unacceptable feelings and you do totally the opposite, Ex a woman who has strong sexual drives becomes a nun.... I think displacement is pretty related to hierarchy, you movve your feelings to someone who is below the actual target..
