Hi Folks, I just came back from my step 3 exam and I wanted to let you know my experience in case it will help anybody preparing for the exam. The exam is doable, I feel very uncertain of many of my answers in the MCQs especially Psychiatry and Ethical part of the exam, please make sure you study this aspect very well. I had alot of Ob-Gyn and Internal medicine and most of the time you will be asked additional symptom the patient should have in order to make the diagnosis, therefore I will advice you to make sure you know all the details of all the common medical problems in the US. The first day was very tiring and I found the second day better in terms of tiredness. I loved the CCS part, all my patients were direct case (At least my first 2 DD happend to be the final diagnosis) and all except one improved after treatment. I left the one that did't improve in ICU, she didn't die but all I did happened not to revive this fricking patient so hopefully that was part of the case as I was sure of the diagnosis but the 25 minutes was not enough to show improvement. I am trying to be positive though. I think the key to CCS is practising the Software well ahead of time so that you dont waste precious time writing orders that would never be recognized by the software. For example I was typing TMP/SMZ but I never got the order confirmed cos it didn-t show up in the software and I couldn't spell the name of medication correctly. I fought with this medication for more than 2 minutes untill I remembered a commercial name (Bactrim) that was finally recognized by the software. thank GOD I prepared for 1 and half month with few interruptions and used Strong Medicine, Swanson and UW (3 weeks). I think if you took step 2 CK in less than 6 months back you could use just strong medicine and UW or Kaplan notes for step 2 Ck and UW. I think it is an exam with alot of management judgement so alreday practising in the US will be a plus but for us that need H1 we need to pass tuis exam by all means. I hope I will make it with this first attempt otherwise I will go for it again by april so I will keep reviewing psy and Ethics just in case. Please fell free to ask anything and I wish you all the best in your prep for step 3. Remember the exam is doable so dont be afraid folks.
