38 yrs old woman complaining of severe headache lost consciousness brought to ER. SHe has a history of HTN . She can blink her eyes in respond to commands but unable to move her Arms and legs.

where is the lesion?

1.pons

2.medulla

3.cervical spinal cord

4.thalamus

5.Midbrain

ok its a qbank question explanation given is

descending corticobulbar and corticospinal fibers r interrupted. The patient is unable to move facial pharyngeal and limb musculature and unable to speak. this si known as locked in syndrome. thsi is pseudocoma

Lesion in midbrain either causes ipsilateral III nerve palsy with contralateral hemiplegia or (if lateral) causes III nerve palsy with cerebellar dystaxia.

Guys...its 'locked-in' syndrome where the patient is locked in their body and can only communicate with their eyes...classic picture...the lesion is in Pons..

That's a good way of saying it robin.The hint in this question is the mentioning of the ability of the patient to blink his eyes indicating it is probably the only significant thing he can do,which in turn means all otheer things below are lost (i.e pons and below).
