Ask your PD friend for honest advice.

Good luck

well friend not to discourage u or anythin but u need to seriously rethink. im is extremely difficult for <80 in both steps even with gc. ur time spent givin the exam makes u old grad. u cud try for fp or psychi or peds - ppl with tries sometimes match there. apply to totally out of way programs in for profit hospitals which do not sponsor an h1. try for usce, lor, research and 90+ scores in ur succesful attempts.

dear doc_droc_apurva
thanks for your help you gave me some hope, by usce you mean united state clinical....i will have letters of recomendations a lots of them .....i will buy the qbank and go threw it i think i need to practice more questions....
i was hoping that the green card will help a little. i made an observership in a pediatrics clinics for over a year...

usce will help and if u'r determined to get a residency nothing can stop u...it's tough, but not impossible.concentrate on ur exams and try to get good scores...even if u manage to get an average passing score, improve ur credentials with US LORs.once u've worked hard at it...leave the rest to god and hopefully u will get interviews and a spot in the coming year.good luck and stay focused!

you can try it, try to improve your credentials as much as you can and apply if the situation is appropiate. But you must always have a back up, a plan B (just in case), like to stay and work in Germany or something like that (to sleep calm, relaxed), because you have the disadvantage that you have multiple attempts in a step.

only, like a comment: i think medicine in germany is excellent, itīs a good place to study fellowships and things like that, thatīs what I knew. A friend of mine is gonna go to germany to complete his residency in neurosurgery and he plans to stay there to work. He has good contacts.

thank you for your advice guys , i have now some LOR and clinical experience here in the US more in pediatrics ( almost a year) ,my question is theoreticlly to how many programms can i apply...
or to what programms should i apply.....yeh by the way do you think should i ask my freind PD about the situation and did you know anybody who got into residency with a situation like me ,,,acutaly i know one guy but in 1993 ( was easier back then)
thank you for your reply

Ask the friend of PD. Because they promise alot, but once it become serious, nobody is there to help you. Nicht wahr?

I would stay in Germany on your place. Forget US. Your country gives much better apportunities for Germans. I mean there are less apportunities for "Auslaender" in Germany, but for Inlaender they are excellent. I personally do not know any German or Austrian who stayed without a residency program. Tschuss!

nod i agree with tocket: if i were in your shoes, i would seriously think if i really wanna go to USA or not, you are in a 1st world country with 1st world medicine.

i guess AUSLAENDER is foreign and INLAENDER is local. And TSCHUSS is good luck. am i right?

Dear lost55,
With a green card in your hand, your chances are tremendous. What you have to do is to pass the exam with reasonably good score. You are still fortunate that you have achance to write and get a score. People who have passed in a bad score are in much worse situation. It is a well known fact that community hospital are on the trail of peaple with green card. I am sure that you will have no problem into getting residency provided-
-pass your usmle
-have all results before application
-apply by september
-use your contact with pd to get some externship or observership inhis program
-get few goor US lor
-dont be very choosy in selecting programs
general beleif is that people with green card have better chances of getting than those with visa demands
