Where is metaphase II completed? According to goljan HY: In uterus. Can anyone please explain? (this is a very important high yield point!) I know that the secondary oocyte is arrested in metaphse II of meiosis until fertilization; and fertilization occurs in the ampulla of the fallopian tube, so shouldn't metaphase II occur in the ampulla and not the uterus? thanks.

Yeah,it should be at ampulla ( to say more accurately) before implantation at uterus metaphase complete only if fertilization occur otherwise ovum will no longer survive 24 hours after ovulation

So metaphase II in the ampula of fallopian tube since fertilization takes place there, right? Thats what I though too.. can anyone else confirm this?

Yes, that's true, the metaphase II end in the ampula of fallopian tube(usually), after fertilization.Don't forget the implantation occur in uterus in blastocyst stage.
