Q,/the major source of the total daily acid load produced by the body is
A,/ANAEROBIC METABOLISM.
B,/AEROBIC METABOLISM.
C,/PHOSPHOLIPID CATABOLISM.
D,/PROTIEN CATABOLISM.
E,/TRIGLYCERIDE CATABOLISM.

  #2

Protein catabolism, phosphates, sulfates etc. from amino acids.

can anyone shed light on any of the distractors??

As far as I know, there are 2 major forms of acid in the body: Volatile (i.e. CO2 produced by aerobic metabolism and Non Volatile ( which is Phosphoric acid from Phospholipid catab and Sulfuric acid from Protein catab)
In this case CO2 should be the largest amt of acid produced in the body, albeit volatile and hence I will go with A ie Aerobic Metab.

someone can explain?shaking head

No Doubt, CO2 is the most abundant acid in body but at the same time when it is being produced it is also being simultaneously removed from body by expirartion. The net acid which body gains daily by non-volatile acid production is 50-70meq/day and it is this acid form which contributes towards acid-base balance of body and which is deranged in many metabolic conditions.

vijaysaini, no doubt what you are saying is correct..but the questions simply asks...the major source of total acid load produced in the body...I am not sure how much phosphoric acid is produced in the body due to protein catabolism and highly ddoubt whether it equals the amount of CO2 produced.....
