hopefully i am done with usmle forever...
i will know in 3 weeks ....

first of all , it didnt seem as scary as i had imagined it wud be. it was doable. it was not as if i had to click away randomly. sure there were some (in fact many ) like that but there were also a great deal which were familiar.....

my observations for the exam:
1) read step 2 kaplan notes, especially med and peads.....also psychiatry
2) dont bother too much with kaplan step 3 notes
3) UW is the key to success( i hope i am going to be successful sticking out tongue)
read the explanations of UW again and again ......many questions were very very similar to UW.
4) level of difficulty not as much as UW .even nbme looked tougher to me.
5) time management is the key cos i was running out of time with all blocks and few ccs cases too.
6) for ccs play around with the cd and write down what you think on the sheet they provide so u dont miss out on anything.

7) if u have done internship seriously or have some residency experience in ur home country , u prolly will be better off.
8) stick to basics. being cost effective is the key . if there is UA vs IVP , UA is prolly the correct answer.

thats all i can think of.
will be back again if i can think of something else.

good luck everyone.

it sounds you did great coolbabe!.

i´m getting 58% in UW, i´ve done 15 blocks (46 each one) so far. I´m going to pay more attention to the explanations, as you say. Which score do you think i could get? doing a correlation, according to what you know or have heard.

Hi

Its very nice to know that someone is done with the nightmare. I am pretty sure you have done it well. Please post your NBME score and time frame of your preperation.

Thanks in advance.

oh no i didnt ...my mcq s were better than ccs , i think.
i goofed up little bit on at least 2 or may be 3 cases.
no body died though ......
i think 58 % is fine ...i gave my exam with similar cumulative scores.do all the blocks and just read the explanations again and again.

ultimately you just get a gut feeling about whether u r ready to take the exam or not ....i tht i was .......

good luck....

will be back with my correlations.

coolbabe76,

What was your score on NBME??

  #7

free trial - 400
paid - 420
UW- around 55 to 59 %

but trial and paid questions are the same.and the trial is over anyway now.
thats passing grade but not very good otherwise.
i dont know how much that translates into 3 digit score.

dr vi
if you have step 2 ck notes , dont bother with step 3 notes.for step 3 UW plus step 2 ck notes is best...and my notes are old.....2001....

  #12

thanks coolbabe ..i guess i'll do just that!
