hi guys, almost done with Respiratory, today's plan is to do at least one block from UW ,with explanations, hope i do that.

Started with Paeds today...not my strong forte I am afraid!
If some one has gone through paeds already I'd appreciate some pointers...from what I hear those lectures are extremely boring.

Finishing up w/ Endo. Super slow mind yest. Will start Nephro. today.
Cyra, read Kaplan notes, B&W Peds. then do the UW q's. I took notes of all the HY's from UW. It's pretty interesting. Took me 1 week to do all of those. The video it will guide you through the book like Surgery.

Cyra,My personal belief is that first reading of KapNotes must be accompanied by videos/DVDs of Surgery & Paeds._that means you "ll be spending 4days(with DVDs) or 3 days (without)DVDs per subject.
In surgery Dr.Pestana may just read only whatever is written,but believe me-it "ll get deep into your brain- never to come out again.
Paeds_well,well,well!!! Too boring.  BUT take lots of cokecans &sit in front of your DVDs.He"ll not be interesting enough like Dr.Pestana to help you memorize.But he"ll give --lotsof extra points not in the notes+ lovely CVS physiology+ some helpful photos.I am talking latest Paeds with Dr.William Cventic,I donot know if you have old DVD editions by some other Dr.
That said&done__never leave the important materials u have unused.Evev if you have to squueze out extra hours.I hope I have cleared doubts of many regarding paeds&surg DVDs.

hi 3535,
how many av pages of Kap Notes u do daily?What should be speed (pages/day) during first & subsequent readings if done alongside DVDs & Q bank(3-4 hrs)?

Gladiator,When I took centre-prep kaplan ,I targetted & did 8 hours of videos everyday(u can calculate the pages yourself).But I was at the centre only from 10am to 7:30pm(9:30)hours. And had to manage my baby & household chores before & after the classes& was commuting 20min each side too.
I didnot have the time to read at home.so after 1-2 topics,I used to sit at home & revise it with some QUESTIONS.

karus,
as i've read fr ecfmg site, you can participate for the match 2007 as long as you register by July, the reason being is that cs schedules gets busy & wants us to register early. In other words if you take it in Aug then absolutely that's still okay.

Started Nephro & going along well. Also reading/catching up w/ my Kaplan notes for endo. Not sure if I have time to do videos consistently. i rely more on UW & explanations...Practice... practice...practice...
I'm planning to take my exam next month so I need to feed my brain more..How abt you good fellas?

M2, Endo DVDs give extra info --DM,PTH (somogyi/dawn ph.) (how to regulate insulin doses at what time).
Nephro---Na,K is a MUST.
Even if u leave out all DVDs, must do CVS & Na,K of nephro.

Just apply for 2cs date before july1.You can have one whole year to take 2cs,as well as have the opportunity to take it in time for next match2007.
But most imp. ( v.difficult for me ),concentrate on your coming 2ck.

Thanks for the input m2 and 3535.
3535...hats off to you for juggling the studying and household chores!!I have decided to suck it up and go through the lectures... ...Unfortunately, I have the lectures by Dr.Pino(which are probably the old lectures)....but he is growing on me...so i guess its all good!I guess I enjoyed Pestana because of the accent(reminded me of the Godfather!).
Kar....to make the 2007 match you need to have scheduled the date for CS by 1st of july...this doesnot mean that your exam has to be before july.You just need to have confirmed a testing appointment.So,I'd say go ahead and apply as the testing centers get filled up real quick.
My prep is coming along ok.Trudging along with paeds.Did UW neurology questions yeaterday.Hopefully will read through the explainations today.

Today & Tomorrow (early morn)------- 230 questions of NMS w/ taking down notes. WHEW!!
(I have done all kapbooks w/ videos,but months back).19,20th----------revise all question-notes u have from nms+mksap+medrevu+kap q bank.Do some topics from first FAstep1.I MUST start UW on 21st.
wish me luck (lots of it ---very tight schedule)

13th march----completed nms as planned in morning (and how couldnot I after having disclosed this schedule in front of half the world).This is a good thing about this journal .Once u write down ur plan here,u have to stick to it,NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!! so i did 230 q of nms with my daughter rushing to me for attention every few minutes.Gotta do ObGyn with kap qbank in 2&1/2 days.whew!so off to library.
Platinum,u seem to have done lots of IM at a stretch.I guess things willbe more ineresting (& challenging)when we start UW.gd luck

thanks 3535 but i plan to goto UW in my second read. so i better get done with the notes and vdos first and medicine is just my first subject so need to rush and thnks for the PM too
