yes C...suicidal intention would be the main reason for that...i far as i remeber the first think to ask a depressed patient is about his/her thoughts about suicide..

I also think why not b? my reasons: patient is danger for his wife so it's his wife's right to be informed. but C says patient is in danger, so patient must be hospitalized without his will, so why we must inform his wife???

READ the question:He's had the intent BUT denies(has) NO PLAN to really do it! And between SUICIDE and THOUGHTS of hitting,WHICH one do you think is more important in an URGENT setting?

I think that if he did have an established plan or a firm thought to hurt the wife, then yes=talk with her, warn her.

I would go with b.the issue here is talking to his wife. For a suicidal depressed patient, the doctor is still not allowed to share his information to anyone without his permission rather he should immidiately confine him to the hospital. The wife has a right to be informed only if her life is at risk. The patient although denies but ethics says that first the doctor should confront the patient but if he denies in harming her in anyway physicaly then the doctor should tell her if he suspects the patient can harm her.hitting the wife is abuse, and abuse and harm are the same.she is at risk of abuse aka harm.
