14D(erythrogenic toxin causes scarlet fever) Streptococcus pyogenes group A causes rheumatic fever.(same causative agent-BUT different mechanism-It is antibody mediated damage caused bu cross reaction with our own tissue-heart valves, basal ganglia-Sudenham chorea,as well as joints-arthritis).You have Jones criteria for Dg. You have Libman sacks sterile endocarditis in SLE and marantic endo with ca -they are called sterile because you have NO microorganisams. It is more like an autoimmune mechanism or sometimes it can be increased coagulation(platelets stick to the valves but no obvious bacteria or such).
