Hi,
I have a query regarding OPT?Is it safe to take OPT(Optional practical) for one year?Then can we request the program where we join on OPT for H1 in second year(even if they were doing J1).If not can we change the program in the second year to another residency?Does it have any bad imprecations on us later when we apply fr Pgy2 position?

If a program will not sponsor a H1 for your first year, why do you think that they will sponsor it for a second year?

Hmm thanks fr the reply BBB,
Is there no way we can compell and request them..some of the hospitals which i interviewed did do h1 in previous years but arent doing now.
Anyway thats a weird idea and a rare chance..but i willl keep hoping

If a hospitals' policy states that they will not sponsor an H visa, then they don't have to sponsor one. My hospital didn't sponsor any for a number of years.
