mecamyl is used in severe hypertension, and for controlled hypertension in surgery. Nicotine in low doses, firsrt stimulates the receptor... causing depolarization. causing eupohria, alertness and relaxation. but in high doses it causes ganglionic blockage, with severe hypotension and respiratory paralysis.
