I had an interview there. The interview was not stressful although I had an interview there. The interview was not stressful although it was really badly organized. We did not have a chance to meet residents confused, had a short hospital tour and then had an interview with 1 person (PD or associate PD). We were done in 2 hours (I left hospital about 11 AM). Is there anything else you would like to know?

I found this comment in another forum. I hope it helped. GL.

During my interview I couldn't meet with any resident and I thought that maybe something is fishy... but it's not... It's not a pretty-nice hospital.
I'm very happy in the program. It is lot better than what I expected. you work usually about 70h in ward months (6) and about 75-80 in ICU month. The residents-intern are great, no competitiveness, like friends. 60% of them has already another residency done before coming here, mostly all has step3 done, if not you have to be recent graduate (5years) or speak spanish. With night float we can go home and sleep at 9-10pm. You write all orders in computer and read labs, past medical history, clinic visits, etc The program is not very user friendly but when you learn to use it, It make your life lot easier. We have also PACS syst:Computerized digital Radiology. Most of the attendings are nice people, young and active. We have lots of NYMC students that help us with our patients. The location of hospital is good, in UES you can find lots of restaurants, pubs ... Salary without taxes is about $2700, health-dental insurance included and $600/year for book-exams expenses. We don't have a nice library but we have lots of computers and everything is aniline through NYMC library. We don' have Uptodate anymore but you can buy it for 165 /y. But you are probably interested in negative issues: - Manhattan is expensive, 1BR rent is about 2000USD, you can live in Draper hall for 300/month in a room with shared kitchen and bathroom but if you have family girlfriend (like me) you will need to rent. you can also live in NJ and drive here. - The nursing staff is relatively bad. County nurses. You have to be on top of them to make sure they do as you say. - No food during noon conferences. They have a generic pharmacy for county patients and no Pharmaceutical Reps are allowed... we bring food from home or do NY style, ordering food (fast and cheap). - - first year has 6months ward, 1m ICU, 1m CCU, 1m clinics, 1mER, 1m NF, 1 month Vac (you can't divide it in the first year). No electives during first year. One of the reasons this program is not famous is that NY is expensive and this is a poor county hospital in which you deal with sick poor people. 70%latins. lots of HIV and drugs users. Your patients are nicer and you can manage their care directly. Last year they put only 4 spot in match: they prematched 12/16 categorical positions. felowships are always hard for FMG. we do not have cardiology and I know that one left to other program with better chances for cardio
