Hi everyone: I finally gave my exam on the 31st! First of all ...I'd really like to thank everyone on the forum who were kind enuff to post their experiences, share their advice, offer support and encouragement in times of despair...this forum definitely ROCKS!!! About the exam....Its a DOABLE exam, guys. Its REALLY going to test your mental strength and physical stamina as you prepare for this beast.... but while giving the exam I felt calm and my impression was that this beast can be tamed! So hang in there all... Subjectwise: Pathophys: bulk of the exam, covered everything for the basic patho, phys to systemic path...they are getting quite a bit into the physical diagnosis of diseases...that's where doing the Qbank questions would help you recognize the disease Pharm: mostly antineoplastics, Autonomic, drug interactions (warfarin, DM, anti-HT, hyperlipidemics etc) Immuno: know your interleukins and cytokines well Micro: know those 'classification trees' well for bacteria and viruses..that helped me answer most of my questions on micro...again, doing those Qbank qs was a big help for me here as I had a poor grasp of this subject Behavioral: Mostly Stats and Physician-patient Anatomy: UL injuries and neuro for me Biochemistry: mostly glycogen storage diseases and mucopolysaccharidases (ugh!)...hardly any metabolism Qs!! Ofcourse, I had my share of the 'wierdo' mol biology questions (mostly in block 5 and 6 for me)and questions I had NO clue about ...I just made my best educated guess on them and moved on. Bulk of the exam was pathophysiology, ofcourse with all other subjects evenly represented... When I started out, I felt good about my performance but moving towards the end of the day (block 5-7)... I felt I was guessing on more and more questions than I would have liked...was always able to narrow it down to 2 choices but then I had to guess and move on as the clock kept tickin'... If you guys ask me now, I have NO idea how my overall performance was in this exam...I hope that's not a BAD sign...........I really really really hope that don't end up flunkin' this exam!!!!!!! With the benefit of hindsight, I'd say that doing questions is the key and I'd say Qbank and its explanations prepare you REAL well for tackling questions on the real exam. Doing the qbank helps you get into the 'mind set' of the examiners...and this 'mind set' is required to think your way thru the question and arrive at the correct the answer. Goljan was a big help, ofcourse!!!!! I'd welcome any questions/ suggestions you guys have for me. Thank you, Sturge for your wishes before the exam. I really appreciate it! All the best to everyone taking this exam sooner or later (Reet, Sturge, Malinda, Sarika, Shakeels..n' everyone...hang in there guys!) Please PRAY for me.....
