Where does it work and whats the mech of action/side effects? {got to admit that sounds better the saying furosemide}

It is a loop diuretic, its action is in the loop of Henle. Also called High Ceiling diuretics. Reduce reabsorption of Cl and Na, They increase K, Mg, and Ca. Used in CHF and acute pulmonary edema. Side effects is hypotension, volume depletion and hypokalemia. Ototoxicity related to dosage used and combination with aminoglycosides. Not recommended in patients with kidney stones.

In practical purposes lasix in small doses is used to flush small renal stones out.
