What are the Oxidase positive and negative organisms:

+: Pseudomonas
-: Shigella, Salmonella, Proteus


Please add to the list.

Vibrio and neisseria are oxidase positive

Acinetobacter, Kingella, Moraxella, Branhamella also comes under Neisseriae. R they Oxidase +ve too?

Campylobacter jejuni and H pylori are also oxidase positive

Pseudomonas, Neisseria, Vibrio, Campylobacter, Helicobacter, are all oxidase positive.
Enterobacteriae are NOT.
Does anyone have a good way to remember this? (any mnemonics?)

1)Oxidase + means to r/o Enterobacteriaceae. and its a cost effective test! 2)a tempoary pneumonic is "Vice President CHEN" "Vibrio-Psuedomonas-Campylobacter-Helicobacter-"Exclude popular E. Coli since its an Enterobacteriaceae and -Neisseria group. smiling face

Also legionella pneumophila is oxidase positive
