are you preparing for usmle step 1? if so than please dont waste your time on this book. i am telling you this because i tried a similar thing in physiology. i tried to do it from Genong. even read half of it. but now, in the middle of my prep, i think the best choice was and is BRS or Kaplan. here, in step1, there is so much work, so many subjects, that you cant spent time on only one thing. and thanyou will have to learn one book very very well. even if you learn patho from BRS and finish whole of Q-bank and review some webpath, you can score well , and even it is very hard and time consuming. there is also micro and genetics to be done in patho. and the things should be very clear in your mind. so my advise is to go for BRS. even if you have previously studied from robbins. best wishes

Thanks 26malik. I think you are right. I am also familiar with Ganong. After reading some topics it is really hard to conclude whether something goes up, down or stays the same. I think better study plan is to read something like BRS and add some important details from textbooks. I'll be glad to know about different ideas concernig preparation...

hi...in my opinion rapid review from goljan and his audio,s would be a much better option then kaplan patho..So opt. either BRS or goljan....not kaplan for patho..

no actually i dint do goljan text. i heard goljan audio(not fully though) i dint have time. but it was gooooood. i read robbins because i was pretty much accustmed in my under grad. and also i feel for step 1 it is worth reading chapters esp the first chap like genetics, childhood, neoplasia, and some selected from robbins

i'm also trying to study from momma robbins especially for chapters like genetics, neoplasia and hematology. i started doing this cause i got tired of having to fill in missing clinical details in my BRS. i have the kaplan lectures but i'm saving those for later. in my opinion i have plenty of time. i also have goljan to complement. but am i doing the wrong thing reading from robbins?

I don't think reading from robbins is wrong provided you have enough time for. I see there are lost of different approaches. If somebody knows major difference between BRS and Rapid review, please post. Thx

Oh,come on-The point is simple:It all depends how good you were doing with pathology in your med school and afterwards-The point is that you can not review what you have NOT learned before. For instance:I haven't even BEGUN reading PATHO for step 1 but I do have more than good background and I am not alarmed at all. If you haven;t done patho properly in med school(ROBBINS IS THE BEST I USED IT FOR ALL MY EXAMS-even for internal medicine!)-just start with it,carefully, read with understanding and then review from any other book-Goljan or BRS its all the same, just depends for what you opt as a review material.

Yes Robbins can help ur career but to pass Step 1 u need only Goljan Audios n his notes on Pathology thats it after that i think u will say that BRS is also not woth going thru n if u really want to add a book for reference then add Robbins Pocket Review book that has every thing else u might need well its up to everybody but this was my 2 cents on the topic
