HI to all,

hmmm...so guys after doing all the efforts i get my fate which is "fail"...i really in a state of shock but now i admit and happy that if i pass with very low scores then it may no mean for me as I am an IMG and i really need good scores ...not enough to pass this hurdle...

so guys ...i admit my weaknecess..which are lack of focusing,i used so many materials not stick on one book and in the last days it is so much difficult to revise with huge set of books,i had so many family problems for which i took so many long breaks ..some time a month ,lack of confidence in the last month and the only thing in my mind was "i cant do it"..and my perfrmence profile determine it..bcoz the subject in which i was very good(indicating after doing NBME 1 )in real exam it went in to low performence graph..and i really shocked ...I was also afraid for doing much effort in the subject in which i was week ..i didnot do qs in random and time mode..

so guys with all my weaknecess...i really wana do it again and as soon possible because in my opinion the material is fresh in my mind and i really dont wana waste it...so please help me getting out from it...please advise me how to restart..how i schedule my self ...i really wana do but cant initiate...one more thing i wana do it again in May ....is that enough time to prepare ...plus i am so weak in physio ,behavior and bio stat and bio chem...how can i improve these subjects ..guide me how i do the qs ...timed and rendom mode?and for this should i do Q bank online ...?

i really need you guys ...suggest me ..i find this site very useful ..u guys great ...help me to restart my self with all my good hopes ...i dont wana remember my failure ..just remember my weaknecess ,wana work on it to pass with good scores ....

really need ur guidence

drsnq;

Sorry to hear about that. I am an old (96) IMG . I've been in the same boat--I just passed Step 2 (after 2 attempts!). I was quite depressed for a while. And it took me a year to finally face my fears again. I may not be an authority to give you any advice (I just got an 82 in Step 2) but having been in same situation a couple of times, I learned to analyze my review & exam strategy before I attack it. You see, I was too stubborn to admit I need help (& these review centers are so expensive) so I went to usmle forums and researched on the best books & strategies. I used the score feedback that we get to guide me as to which subjects I should focus on. And like what everyone here says.--practice, practice, practice. I also learned that practice questions should be timed. If possible, do it online also. There are a lot of smart people here & I'm just in awe at their staggering 99's--I'm just happy with my humble but very precious 82smiling face. Browse through the exam experiences too-that's quite a helpful thread. Goodluck!

  #7

hang in there, drsnq, how many months did you prepare?
you are not that far from passing and doing better next time.

  #8

hello drsnq, I'm sorry to hear that, believe its the news I can't believe it, bcz you were participating quiet well in the forum, but one os for sure that, no one take exam to fail it.

Good thing is that you were right their to get it thru. My advice is to improve your week areas, and what I think do the q bank and q book in detail, read all the right and wrong choices very thoroughly, see that why the wrong answers are not correct and when the answers will be correct, bcz quiet many time we know the correct answers very good, but didn't know every thing about the wrong answers.

I think if you take all the q bank and all the q book it will be like 2100 multiply by 4 and q book 850 multiply by 4, it means its huge number of questions.

i hope it will work.

drsnq...I admire your determination.May sounds good. The online Q bank is good practice for the exam(and it probably will have updated questions)...please do it random and timed...you might also want to challenge yourself with new, unseen questions....may be NMS or BSS...even though the questions are said to be outdated. If you haven't used kaplan for physiology I'd suggest going through it.Biochem needs memorisation and integration...annotate the respective cycles as you review them so that important stuff like the main regulatory steps stick.Give it your best...good luck!!

Hi drsnq,

I donīt know what to say: I am so sorry ! And shocked ! I thought you were going to walk out of there with a good score. I am truly at a loss of words...

Yet I still think itīs a good idea to go ahead and retake your exam asap. Because like you said: now you still have alot of the info freh in your memory. In fact, I have something similar planned: if I failed, I am planning on retaking my exam in mid-April. And then maybe we can give each other moral support during those trying weeks up to the exam ?!

Behavioral-wise, I came accross a good website through this forum: http://depts.washington.edu/bioethx/topics/ Maybe thatīs something for you to take a look at ?

Anyway, drsnq, donīt loose hope ! (Although itīs probably a pretty difficult time and situation for you right now !) Weīre all here and happy to help !
