80-yr, woman, 2-wk mild constipation and incomplete empty of bladder. Took OTC frequently. Vital signs are normal. She has bladder distention and mild confusion. Cause? A. Cimetidine B. Diphenhydramine C. Docusate sodium D. Guaifenesin E. Ibuprofen

{antimuscarinics} answer -b-diphenhyramine-[also in this group trihexphenydl and benzotrpine] "the tip off is the age and the gut is shut off + confusion" {I belive all are OTC's!}

kool buddy! yu got this one correct as ever ! i'll just add a point here, anti-histaminics, antidepressants [TCA's] and antipsychotics; all of these have atropine like side effects + some alpha blocking effects too. and be careful guyz, constipation was mentioned in the context of side-effects not the indication for OTC's.
