What is the treatment of ostemylitis in SCD patient?

depends on specific isolate obtained, which must be as precise as possible cuz empiric tc for 6-12 wks would be undesirable. A semisynthetic penicillin (Ox/Naf) and an aminoglycoside or third gen cephalosporin would be adequate intil a specific dx is obtained. Chronic must be tx for as long as 12 wks of IV therapy, followed by another 8-12 wks orally.
