Somebody give some more opinion

Which specialty are you applying for at Kalamazoo? Is it Internal Mdicine? I have interviewed there and I know about the program.

Hai hellwithmedicine,
Ya, internal medicine, what did you feel? What did you think about the program? Are they known to offer prematches? Is it a university program as they claim to be? It has got very good reviews in scutwork.com.

It is associated with MSU and it is a Osteopathy (DO) focused and many of their residents are DOs. The program's setting is commuity-based. Being a DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) oriented (that's the feel I got) and being community-based may affect your chances of getting fellowship training. The people are nice otherwise. As for prematch, they may offer occasionally. Have you been offered a prematch there? If not yet, then it is unlikely you would because January 31 is the deadline to submit program's quoatas.

I got the feeling that it is a very good program of a mediocar university. It maintains a ratio of 50% local and 50%fmg. Their academics and didactics are very good. Paople are very good and friendly. The atmosphere and benefits are very good. Being a university program, it has a very goog R&D department. It has a large number of funded studies going on especially in cardiology. It functions a a an off site campus of Michigan State university with medical school, nursing and paramedic school. I also like th town of Kalamazoo- a small town with low living expense and dig towns like detroit and chicago within 2 hours drive. 50-60% people get fellowship every year and they have very good history in cardiology. They take 6 do students in osteopathic internship program. That has nothing to do for the people taken for allopathic medicine. My impression is that it is a good program and I like it very much. If you have option to go to baylor or, hopkins, then you may not consider this program. But if most of your prgrams are from community and mediocar universities like me, then KCMS is definitely worth considering serious. This is the impression i had after the interview
