hey ppl....seeking ur humble advice...graduated just this year....had planned 4 2007 match...but my senior doin prelim surgery in detroit(99/99/95) advised me to get work experience in big corporate hospital for few months after the steps as he says without usce or us lor,research or work experience is wat the pd looks for (obviously also the lors that accompany the work experience ,,preferably from some big shot known abroad)...and then apply 4 2008 match.....guys pls guide me about this....or wud it better to rush this year,,,try to get prelim and use it as usce in match......i know all this is probably far sightedness.....but the competition is really hot this year....and its just gonna increase down the line... ur time n advice ll surely be a god send....im in real dilemma

Considering you are a recent graduate with such great scores, you should go for 2007 match. Regarding USCE if you can arrange for an observership or externship for 3-6 months, I think it will suffice. For 2007 match you will start applying in September 2006, so there is plenty of time to get USCE. Give a lot of time to your personal statement and resume, that makes A BIG DIFFERENCE.
