in infectious mononucleosis what is the identity of the predominant white blood cell?

1)CD8+ lymphocyte
2)CD4+ lymphocyte

Well if you talking about the clearing of EBV, its by CMI...so is it CD8+?

BTW isn't it true that when EBV hooks into the CD21 recptor, it causes massive replication of B cells...that would make CD 21 correct, right?raised eyebrow I 'd have gone with Reet on this actually...

Can you explain?

well that's a qbank question ,I also marked CD21.the correct answer is CD8.the explanation given is that EBV attach to CD21 on B cells and destroy it,with reactive lymphocytosis and T lymphocytes will be predominant.

EBV ---cause polyclonal proliferation of B CELLS.. in burkitts lyphoma..

EBV-- IN INFECTIOUS mononucleiosis--proliferation of B CELL and also -ANTIGENIC stimulation of T cells. causing atypical lymphocytosis

I think so,but as qbank says T cells is the predominant cells in EBV infection.
anyone wanna weight on this?

they r talking about antigenic stimulation by virus....i think. not proliferation..
