hello all,

i am an IMG and just starting to look into this whole thing here, sometimes it seems sooooo muchthat needs to be done to me, well, i'm glad to see, that i am not alone with this problem-this forum has been a great help already for me!
there is just one thing i still dont understand..what exactly is the difference between an internship and the first year of residency (if there is one at all)?
could one start internship without ecfmg certification ? i don't think so,right?
so,does the internship count additionally to the time of residency (lets say three years for peds) or is it really just another name for the first year of residency?
hmmm :icon_scratch:

would be great if i could get an answer to that!
anyway-good luck to everybody working on the ecfmg certification or trying to get a residency! smiling face

You will have to have ECFMG certification.

Internship is the first year of residency.
