good luck malik..3 months is ample time for good preparation and to master step 1 content.nod

Thanks for your good words sobia. i really need them.
As right now i am very very depressed. i didnt studied for the past 3 days. just got tooooooo tense and slept and watched tv. disapproval so i am very very upset now.
May be my problem is that i set my expectations too high. when things start going well i think they will stay that way. another problem are my thoughts. mind jumbles. i must change things. change my behaviour.
ok. as right now i am totally lost and out of any order or energy, lets see what i CAN do. there must be something i can do. i will just open my books and start studying. i will give this damn exam what i can. And actuslly that is all i can do. isnt ot. confused

it is good to have anxiety.Infact I believe there should be a moderate amount of anxiety all the time..But no extremes obviously.Try to set realistic goals.Goals that you can meet.A person working full time CANNOT study 8 hours a day..So his realistic goal is to study 4 or 5 hours a day.A full time mom cannot study 8 hours a day so her realistic goal is whatever time she gets off taking care of the kids..Similarly we cannot finish half pharacology in one day so make it 2 ir 3 days..The beauty of this exam is organization and being practical..You can add days to your preparation but if you miss one day's target, you are all off balance..So make small targets and if you meet them during the day,add something extra from the next day..Its not retro studies ..it is always plannign ahead of schedule, moving ahead of schedule..

When you panic, its okay to be nervous and anxious.Take a break, watch TV but then get back to studies as soon as possible or you will forget everything. These days will be over soon.Put all your efforts and then there will be 3 weeks when you will bang your head against the walls as what to do in the free time..smiling facehonestly waiting for the results is the best time ever..so work hard and your time will come toonod

i have done all of it except chemo which i will do with micro.
i hope my performance graph will move up this week.

i am going to library regularly now. (thanks malinda for advise smiling face.) but my performance is not very good. but it is improving.
i have decided to buy Qbank and will start it from 1st april as i have practiced very few Qs yet. my plan is to give exam in june or max in july. i am still not sure i can do it as concepts and ideas have not started to get clear in my head. actually they are very vage. my score in qs is also very poor. round 40%. i hope things will get better as i keep on working.
my strategy now will be to go to library daily. than solving 50 qs everyday from q bank. no matter if score is bad. and sticking to this routine. i can do it nod
and i will. inshallah

Thanks Dipti. I Started Q-Bank. I hope it will improve my performance but id did revealed it. cool
It was after hesitation as i was very confused. but i hope i am right in going for the online version as it will give me dicipline wrt time and is more closer to the actual exan.
But the scores were horrible. i didnt expected them to be so low.
i got 35% in my first test and 50% in second test. disapproval
I am so stressed out to see this.
Anyway. Be positive. its better that i know my weakness than not.
New resolution: Do one test daily, atleast and read the explainations.

hey 26malik,
i am doing 50 blocks everyday.i prefered to take sysytemwise.sometimes one sometimes 2 systems.but i never took them immidiately afterfinishing any system.i thought if i do better it will give me false confidence.after all in exam we have have to deal with long term memory.
i did 50 questions or sometime 100 questions(the day i missed doing qbank).i have deceded a fix time to do qbank and read explanation.but still i havent finish reading all explanation.as i read slow and note points from bank into FA,it takes time.also i am doing 2nd reading so it takes time.
but believe me before solving question bank,my reading was really passive and iguess nonproductive.but now i am really improving.
good you took online qbank.that really helps when after solving blocks, two columns appear to tell you where you stand in whole world.take it as a motivation to beat this exam.tell yourself, next time you gonna go up,you can and you will.start expalantions and read according point you missed from notes.
thats wht i do....
so you can do systemic or random.but try to analyse yourself after blocks, work on weak areas.remember this not the final exam, this a learning tool to win final battle.you gonna do it!!

scores are going to improve inshAllah malik.one always starts with low scores on q bank.and they have designed the tests in a way that by the end of q bank, you will master the HY facts asked again and again in different tests.so scores are naturally supposed to go up.dont worry about the scores. Q BANK IS A LEARNING TOOL.U will get a 90% on a test and u wont read the explainations well. Its worse that u score a 20% and u read the explainations well. Its JUST FOR LEARNING HY FACTS.dont be discouraged by q bank scores..try to get the concepts.

routine is a msut for usmle exams.its a military training.U have to be on a schedule,in an environment where u can focus.Mark my words, the mere fact that you are going to the library and not sleeping on the comfortable sofa there but studying on a proper table, will make a huge difference.

make realistic goals.small goals at a time, and keep adding targets if you are done earlier.read FA side by side.and discuss qs on forums.it helps a lot.smiling face

  #37

dear tolito and dipti
thank you so much for your care and concern smiling face
i had a really bad week. some things went wrong in the start and than they kept on messing up. my parents got sick, guesta arrived. and i lost track of all the right things i was doing. disapproval
it was my fault. 60% things were not working and made that to a nice 100% by giving up as well.
anyway. i cant bring that time gone back.now lets see where i was a week ago. and start my journey again nod

i have finished pharma.
i still have to do its Qbank. i plan to finish this reading by mid may. so i must hurry.
now i will start micro & immunology. than biochem and than pathophysio.
first immunology. i will do it from kaplan and also check it out from levinson. than Qs. i think my immuno was always good. so lets give it 3 days. i hope every thing will seem easy after pharma. i have given it so much time and all i got is a vague picture of it cool
also follow the things that worked......library, daily Qs and must do exercise daily as otherwise there is no energy to sit on the chair for 8 hrs. and NOOoooo to everything else. nod
