okay here is a stupid question but since i am going to start prep 4 step3 next month i hope you guys forgive mne for asking it I have heard that step3 score has no importance whatsoever a just passing score is equal in all respects to a very good one is that true? if you apply to a program with a bad (<80) step2 score and a really good step3 score they are not going to consider the step3 score at all? it this true? I have a okay step1score(90) but expecting a poor step2 score can a good step3 score compensate for that I am aiming for IM anyplace anywhere

I would say do the best you can with Step III. Try to find other things to do. research, etc. Find out about clerkships in local hospitals, find out about auditing grand rounds, etc. Get involved. You will need recommendation letters from the US if you want to be considered.

i think you must simply do your best, study hard and that's it. >90, if you want a number.

Most Programs only look at your Step 1 score. As a lot of AMGs are only applying with their step 1 scores. I got over 90s in both steps and the entire talk was around the step 1 score. Step 3 is just for licensing purposes.
