How do AV fistulas and anemias increase pulse pressure?

  #2

puplse pressure= SBP-DBP

I THINK

av fistula --- cause dec in preload , decrese in DBP ,, hence pulse pressure INCREASE.

ANEMIA--- , DECRSING BLOOD VISCOSISTY ,,,, increasing heart rate.............????

what about artherosclerosis, Aortic regurgitation, and hyperthyroidism. how do these cause increase pulse pressure? thanks

  #4

I think in AV fistula there is increase preload as blood is shunted from artery to vein, that leads to increase COP and increase systolic pressure,in the mean time during diastole blood is again shunted to veins that leads to decrease diastolic BP.
in anemia hyperdynamic circulation leads to increase cop and increase systolic pressure.

in atherosclerosis decreased compliance leads to increase systolic Bp as arteries are stiff cant expand.also diastolic BP will decrease.AR during diastole blood will flow back to left vent leading to decreased diastolic and this flow back will cause volume overload on the ventricle and increased COP and Increased systolic BP

ATHEROSCLEROSIS--- fatt deposists -increse resistance(STIFF arteries) ---ince SBP.

aortic regurgi-- INCRSE stroke volume,,, SYSTEMIC HYPERTENSION ,, low diatolic pressure.

hyperthyroidism---hyperdynamic state-- HIGH SBP.
