U must already be aware of wht is common between the two. whts different is that in factitious the patient willingly(seeks) undergoes various medical and surgical procedures that doctors may do to identify the problem. Some wud even hv a 'grid abdomen' from all t he surgical procedures performed in the past from their multiple visits to the doctor, feigning complaints of pain. Their primary goal is to seek attn...of any kind. Malingering patients feign pain for ulterior motives(eg to escape being jailed). Most of them wont be so motivated enough to undergo painful or elaborate diagnostic procedures. they'd stop complaining or say 'iam better now' as soon as their desires are obtained(grant bail etc). They avoid treatment unlike patients with factitious disorder.
