A person returns from a trip to Hawaii where he consumed many coconuts. He is a biochemist and wonders why he felt so invigourated by the lauric acid in the coconut oil. Lauric acid is oxidized to how many equivalents of ATP? 1. 85 2. 93 3. 95 4. 97 (Hint: Lauric acid is 12C long). Kindly show ur calculations!

12 C fatty acid--> 6 acetyl coA but only needs 5 breaks each break produces 1 FADH2 and 1 NADH (5 ATP, FADH2=2ATP, NADH=3ATP) 1 acetyl coA enters Krebs cycle and produce 1GTP, 3NADH and 1 FADH2 (12 ATP) Firstly Activate FA needs 2 ATP So total energy = 5*5 + 6*12 - 2 = 95 ans is 3
