I have already sent emails to pds expressing my interest in their programs. Does emailing them one more time is effective or may seem counter-productive (may show despeartion). If pds show some + or - response, this will help us in ranking. thnx

Send them a Thank You card with a hand written note expressing interest. Emails are usually not looked at very carefully. I hope this helps.

Actually e-mails are looked at......its fast, efficient and you know it was delivered. Even if you were to send a card.......and you dont receive any reply.....what does it mean.....Nothing! I think you've already done what you could.....many programs do not respond. If they want you they will rank you high if they feel you wont fit in the program then you will be ranked lower or may not even be ranked.I guess most of us are in this situation and we just have to wait and watch what happens....

I agree with you. It is a waiting game and only time will tell who gets matched and who doesn't. It is a frustrating game and we are not the players. The pds are the actual players. thanks for your input.

I agree too.. there is nothing we can do.. we're slaves.. the programs look for what they want and they have all the rights in the world!the're the employers!

i do feel that atleast the programs shud be bound to give some kind of feedback to the persons they have interviewed...it's nerve wrecking not knowing where at all u stand in their ROLs.

Here's a funny story to cheer us up. After my first interview I wrote a thank you letter to the PD thinking I would get some sort of a reply. But none came. So I thought that maybe he didn't read it(since all the candidates were told to contact THE pd via the PC's e-mail if they had any queries or comments). So I wrote a few more times(close to 5!).....still no reply. In the meantime I went for interviews at other places and thats when I realized that not all programs respond to thank you letters. Then I had a query about the first program and so wrote again to them and received an e-mail a few days later with the answer. Now I'm thinking what the first program must be thinking about me 'This guy is psycho. or has OCD!' ........bbb was it your program I was bugging????

Guys, I would strongly suggest doing or asking to do a second look interview..it leaves a positive feedback on the PDs and they really get to know you as a distinct candidate.. It helped me tremendously in gettting a prematch of my choice.. Goodluck and do try it.
